Heating

Heating system sizing study for French homes

An oversized heat generator costs more to run, wears faster and heats less comfortably. Correct sizing comes from a heat-loss calculation, not from a rule of thumb per square metre.

What the study includes

We calculate the property's heat loss, derive the required output, then check that generator, emitters and flow temperature work together.

  • Heat-loss calculation from the actual building fabric
  • Required output at the local design temperature
  • Check of existing radiators or underfloor heating
  • Flow temperature compatible with a heat pump

Heat pumps in particular

A heat pump performs at low flow temperatures. If the emitters are undersized, it runs hot and never reaches the efficiency quoted in the brochure. We check this room by room before installation.

Frequently asked questions

Can I rely on the installer's sizing?

Many installers work carefully, but an independent calculation gives you a figure to compare against and avoids commercial oversizing.

Should I insulate before replacing the heating?

Usually yes: insulation lowers demand, which lowers the required output and the cost of the equipment. The study lets you decide with numbers.
