New build

RE2020 thermal study for new buildings in France

RE2020 is the French building regulation for new construction. It sets requirements on bioclimatic need (Bbio), primary energy use (Cep), summer comfort and embodied carbon, so the thermal study belongs at design stage.

Indicators we calculate

We model the project from the drawings and specifications, calculate the regulatory indicators and test construction variants before decisions are locked in.

  • Bbio — bioclimatic need and design quality
  • Cep and Cep,nr — primary energy consumption
  • Ic énergie and Ic construction — carbon impact
  • Summer comfort (DH), critical on highly glazed designs

Optimise before you build

Orientation, compactness, glazing ratio, solar shading, materials and systems: choices made early cost little and prevent expensive fixes once the shell is up.

Certificates and project milestones

We issue the attestations required at the project milestones and flag any divergence between the design studied and what is actually built.

Frequently asked questions

When should the thermal study start?

Ideally before the building permit (permis de construire) is filed, while the plans can still change at no cost.

What if the design changes on site?

Any change of system, window or insulation changes the results. Tell us and we recalculate so compliance is maintained.
